The Mira Monte Inn a Bar Harbor Bed and Breakfast
The Mira Monte Inn began life in 1864 when Orlando Ash began construction. Mr. Ash was the son of Benjamin Ash who came to this island from Gouldsborough in about 1820, having purchased all the land from the shore near the bar to the mountains. For more on the Mira Monte history.
The Mira Monte Inn sits on two quite acres in the heart of Bar Harbor. Our property is home to three distinct buildings.
The Main Victorian Inn has 13 guest rooms on two floors – two of the first floor rooms are handicap certified. The first floor (which is accessible by ramp and wheelchair), holds the parlor, where we serve afternoon refreshment from 4:30- 6:30 PM daily, the dining room where we serve breakfast, buffet style, from 8-10 AM daily, the library with a piano. Eight bedrooms are on the second floor and five on the first-floor rooms – each of which has a private porch and access directly into the room – in addition to access to a common hall. Six of the second floor rooms have private balconies.
The Maine Victorian Inn has a large front porch where our guests enjoy sitting and talking. We also have a screened glassed-in side porch which we call the “breakfast porch” with individual tables for our guests who would rather not eat family-style in the dining room. Our guest will also take a silver tray to the brick terrace, the chess terrace, the back lawn or the violet lawn. We love choices.
The Mira Monte Inn Suite Building was built by the Ash family for one of the daughters. Our four suites offer quiet solitude for a relaxing Bar Harbor B&B Inn experience. Large fully equipped lodging for those who choose additional space for family and friends or perhaps a place to spread out for an extended Bar Harbor B&B getaway for two.
Our Ashe Cottage was finished in 2012. It is our most interesting “green” building. This is our modern version of a Victorian Octagonal home; utilizing Victorian furnishings in a stylish, efficient building.
The Northeastern Victorians were interested in Octagonal Homes. Victorians would have loved our Ashe Cottage just as much as we do. The Ashe Cottage holds 3 units and sits on the quietest corner of our 2 acre lot. The Wingwood suite occupies the entire first floor. On the second floor are two finely appointed rooms: the Miller & the Rocklynn. All rooms have access to the common back terrace.
